Prerequisites
and Preparation: This is an advanced-level seminar for
government finance officers, accountants, auditors and others that
have completed the IGFOA Intermediate Governmental Accounting seminar
or comparable course or have at least three years experience in
governmental accounting or auditing. No advanced preparation is
required.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will
- Explore the ramifications of recently enacted GASB pronouncements,
new auditing standards and pending issues.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the complex challengs of
implementing GASB standards and preparing useful financial reports.
- Understand accounting for Cash and Investments related to GASB
31 and Disclosures for Cash related to GASB 40.
- Learn how to implement GASB 44 Economic Condition Reporting
- Comprehend Accounting for Debt Issues and Capital Assets
- Acquire insight to address standards for Accounting for Post
Employment Benefits and Special Termination Benefits related to
GASB 43, 45, and 47.
- Learn about interfund transactions and equity reporting.
- Discuss GASB's Project Agenda and Future Pronouncements.
