IGFOA showcases the training programs and information sharing started 50 years ago to encourage professional, responsible management of local government finance in Illinois. Choose from two-days of Advanced Governmental Accounting (offered once every three years) or one-day Hot Topic Sessions. Celebrate IGFOA’s history at the Anniversary Dinner.
Instructional Method: Group-Live seminar
Learning Objectives: Participants will
• review public finance investment approaches during a recession
• explore economic conditions and gather pertinent information on the Federal economic stimulus package
• discuss tactics Illinois local governments are using to balance budgets
• examine practices to manage local government revenue
• gather information about current legislative proposals that may impact local governments
• develop a thorough understanding complex challenges of implementing GASB standards and preparing useful financial reports
• learn about current hot topics in governmental accounting, recently enacted GASB pronouncements and pending issues
Prerequisites and Advanced Preparation: No prerequisites for Hot Topic Sessions. Advanced Governmental Accounting is an advanced-level seminar for government finance officers, accountants, auditors and others that have completed the IGFOA Intermediate Governmental Accounting seminar or comparable course or have at least three years experience in governmental accounting or auditing. No advanced preparation is required.
Advanced Governmental Accounting Seminar
Dates: Thursday, March 12 and Friday, March 13, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Instructors: Fred Lantz, Sikich LLP and Don Rahn, Virchow Krause
This two-day session will address the complex challenges of implementing GASB standards and preparing useful financial reports. Current hot topics in governmental accounting, recently enacted GASB pronouncements and pending issues will be covered. IGFOA Is pleased to offer this seminar to members at a substantial discount.

Vendors are invited to share their products and services at table-top exhibits in the NIU Naperville atrium. Break service for both the Advanced Governmental Accounting Seminar and Hot Topics Sessions will be offered in the atrium. Fee includes skirted table, breaks, and lunch. Exhibitors are welcome to participate in Thursday sessions.
In addition to the table fee, each
individual that will be working at your table -- regardless of how
many hours the individual will be working -- must register and pay
the individual registration fee for the Hot Topic Sessions . Name
badges and conference admission will only be made to paid registrants.
Please note that the registration fee cannot be prorated. Like all
registrants, exhibitors are responsible for their own
travel and lodging arrangements.
Electricity, telephone, Internet, audiovisual equipment can be made
available for an additional charge through NIU Naperville. Exhibitors are responsible for
any additional charges for equipment or service needs.
Exhibit table reservations are on a first in/first paid basis.
Payment in full by check or credit card must be received within
one week of submitting an application to reserve an Exhibit Table.

Guests: IGFOA Members may register guests and family who wish to join us at the Anniversary Dinner at the member rate provided those guest would not otherwise be eligible to participate in educational sessions, professional networking, or the vendor exhibit tables. Non-member government finance staff, public finance professionals, and service providers that serve the public sector are not eligible for guest registration.
This event complies with all Illinois Gift Ban Act restrictions as registration fee/payment is fair market value. Hosts do not accept third party registration or payments for any event and any registrations and or payments made for an individual outside of your government or firm will be returned.

| Cancellation Policy: Registrations are accepted on a first-in, first registered basis. Payment should be mailed in advance or made at the door. If you are unable to attend, please contact IGFOA at 815-752-8941 or info@igfoa.org as soon as possible. A $20 cancellation fee will be charged for cancellations up to March 1, 2009. Cancellations after March 1, 2009 and no-shows are responsible for the full tuition. Substitutions may be made with advanced notice. IGFOA reserve the right to modify the agenda and/or speakers, cancel the training due to low enrollment, or to close registration if full. |
