Chapters & Networks

Membership in the Illinois GFOA includes affiliation with the chapter(s) of your choice.  Watch the IGFOA newsletter and individual chapter announcements for dates, locations and topics of chapter meetings.


Assistants Network
IGFOA sponsors an informal network of professional staff that work in local government finance departments, including but not limited to Assistant Finance Directors, Deputy Finance Directors, Assistant Superintendents of Finance or Business Services, Accounting Managers, Division Managers, Accountants, Analysts, and more. The Assistants Network is coordinated by the Assistants' Representative to the Executive Board with assistance from volunteers within the network. The Assistants Network meets throughout the year on a variety of topics.
Chicago Metro Chapter
The Chicago Metro Chapter members are generally from the northern Illinois border, Chicago, Cook County, and the collar counties. The chapter hosts an annual golf outing and holiday gathering.
Downstate Illinois Chapter
The Downstate Chapter represents IGFOA members outside of the Chicago metropolitan area and reflects the diversity of Illinois from Galena to Carbondale and Quincy to Danville. The newest Downstate group is the Rock River Region, with members from the Rockford area. This chapter hosts regional luncheon programs, seminars and conferences. Scholarships - 2017 Annual Conference The Illinois Government Finance Officers Association - Downstate Chapter will award up to four scholarships to first time public-sector attendees for the registration fee at the IGFOA Annual Conference in Peoria, IL on September 17 – 19, 2017. Each public-sector entity may be awarded only one scholarship. The scholarship recipient is responsible for any transportation and hotel costs. South Metro Chapter
The South Metro Chapter includes members from Lyons to Joliet to Sauk Village. This chapter typically holds luncheon programs on the even ­numbered months, hosts a half-day professional development seminar, and an annual holiday gathering. Scholarships - 2017 Annual Conference The Illinois Government Finance Officers Association - South Metro Chapter will award up to five scholarships to first time public-sector attendees for the registration fee at the IGFOA Annual Conference in Peoria, IL on September 17 – 19, 2017. Young Professionals Network
The primary goal of the Young Professionals Network is to mobilize finance professionals within IGFOA to expand professional networks and promote professional development for the future. Our secondary goal is to inspire current students to pursue government finance as a career to help shape, form and develop the future of Illinois’ units of government.
