Part-time Accounts Payable and Payroll Clerk | Wood Dale Park District

The Accounts Payable and Payroll Clerk position is primarily responsible for performing a variety of accounting tasks including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and bank reconciliations. This position is Monday - Friday, 20-25 hour a week and is eligible for IMRF pension benefits.

Job duties include verifiying and preparing all accounts payables according to the Wood Dale Park District purchasing policy, preparing and processing accounts receivable invoices and payments; processing, printing and distributing accounts payable, refund and other checks, as required; verifying and submitting the bi-weekly payroll to the payroll vendor in a timely manner; accurately recording and tracking all employees’ time off; verifiying cash reconciliations, writing up deposit slips, and assuring deposits are picked up by the police department and maintains the deposit log; assisting in the monthly bank reconciliation process; maintaining and updating vendor/payee information including their contact information and Form W-9s; entering journal entries into the financial software; entering the monthly IMRF contributions; assisting in preparing and managing the yearly operational budget and maintaining compliance with expenditure allocations; assisting with Board packet compilation and dissemination; maintaining, organizing, and filing accounts payable and payroll related records; providing effective and efficient customer service and promotes and retains responsive community relations; using computers, telephones and other office machines to complete work tasks; and following and encouraging safe work practices.

Required qualifications are an Associate's Degree with 1-3 years of accounting experience; knowledge of general accounting, payroll, general ledger chart of accounts, bank and account reconciliation, and budget development and management.  Mut have the ability to remaiin organized and meet deadlines; communicate well with internal staff and external contacts, vendors and the public both in writing and verbally; complete tasks and attain goals with minimal supervision; identify and resolve accounting and payroll errors; perform required duties with initiative, good judgement, persistence, integrity, tact and courtesy; collaborate with other Park District staff in a team environment; multi-task and allow for interruptions of work flow; maintain both electronic and hard copy accounting, payroll and financial records and documents; maintain confidentiality of assigned duties and sensitive information/matters.  Skills in fund accounting and payroll software (Incode and Paycom experience preferred); good knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook software; accurate and efficient data entry skills; strong organizational skills and attention to detail; team centric with good interpesonal and customer service skills.  Must possess a valid driver’s license and obtain First Aid/CPR/AED Certification within 3 months of hire.

Pay is $17 - $20 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
