The Village of Orland Park, a dynamic, progressive community seeks a Financial Analyst who, under general direction, can perform work of considerable difficulty in assisting the Finance Director and Assistant Finance Director with analysis of the Village's financial functions.

This position is responsible for applying principles of accounting in order to prepare and analyze financial information and perform a variety of standard and complex technical accounting, finance, and administrative assignments.  The duties and responsibilities listed below may not be inclusive;  the listed items are only meant to provide a general idea of the functional responsibilities of the Financial Analyst position.

This position assists the Finance Director and Assistant Finance Director with the annual audit and budget report preparation;  police pension fund administration and completing of special projects as assigned.  In addition, this position prepares special surveys, census financial reports, annual unclaimed property reports, monthly and quarterly reports for the Village's special events, Open Lands Fund, Veteran's Commission, permit fees and various road projects.

The Financial Analyst also analyzes general ledger accounts on a monthly basis, prepares reports as requested and adjusting entries as needed, compliles budget adjustments for approval by the Village Board and enters them into the financial system, and performs Village-wide internal audits on an as needed basis.

Other responsibilities include assisting in the development of financial policies and procedures manual, providing back up support to other finance positions as needed, tracking crash and incident reports involving village property, filing general and vehicular liability claims with insurance companies, monitoring claims and pursuing collection reimbursment for repairs, tracking and processing bond payments to ensure correct and timely payment.  In addition, this position tracks and analyzes capital expenditures throughout the fiscal year, enters capital asset information into financial software, prepares capital asset reports for audits, complets annual property exempt affidavit.  Maintains all property files,  prepares the quarterly sales tax filing, oversees the Economic Development Loan program, including verifying incoming monthly payments, updating loan amortization schedules and recording interest receivable.  Communicates with borrowers on an as needed basis, maintains and updates the Finance section of the village website and performs other tasks as assigned or as needed.

This position requires a Bachhelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.  CPA designation is highly preferred.  Two (2) - five (5) years of related financial analysis experience is also required, experience in municipal fianance/accounting is strongly preferred.  The ideal candidate will have experience with enterprise financial management systems and have advanced level Microsoft Excel skills.  Strong analytical abilities are required.  Ability to maintain confidential information and work as a team is required.  Strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines is also required.  We seek a candidate that has high standards of performance, productivity and initiative, and that consistently embraces the philosophy of continuous improvement.  The ideal candidate must have well developed interpersonal and oral/written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex numerical data effectively in clear graphic formats to ensure understanding by a non-technical audience. 

The salary for this position is $82,623 +/- depending on qualifications.  The Village of Orland Park offers a comprehensive employee benefits program which includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and an employee wellness program.  Retirement benefits through the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) are provided along with the option to participate in a 457(b) plan with options through Nationwide, ICMA-RC, Mass Mutual, or AXA Advisors are also available.  The Village of Oralnd Park also provides for paid vacation, personal, sick days and holdiays.
