The Village of Lisle is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Financial Analyst within the Finance Department. Under the general direction of the Assistant Finance Director, this individual will perform a variety of accounting tasks related to daily and monthly general ledger activity, perform various account and bank reconciliations, prepare financial reports, and maintain accounting records.

Principal Responsibilities

Performs general accounting procedures to ensure accurate recording and reporting of financial information; identify and resolve any financial discrepancies.

Responsible for the creation and data entry of journal entries required as part of the month end closing process.

Completes monthly bank reconciliations and coordinates and resolves various issues with the bank.

Responds to financial inquiries; provides technical support where needed. Collaborates with staff across the Village to gain efficiencies in work flow, implement process improvement, and to leverage the capabilities of the newly implemented ERP software system.

Prepares financial reports by preparing periodic internal and external financial documents, supporting schedules and financial reports. Researches, compiles, monitors, summarizes financial information and data, and reports on financial condition.

Conducts financial analysis by monitoring, reviewing and analyzing current and historical financial and budget information. Analyzes trends, prepares financial forecasts, summarizes and interprets the results of financial analysis and provides possible alternatives for consideration.

Performs grant administration; develops projections for applications, ensures grants are billed for reimbursement in a timely manner, and in accordance with grant budgets and requirements; provide documentation for all grant claims for reimbursement.

Tracks and maintains reporting on metrics related to the Strategic Plan; manages the Finance Department webpages.

Creates and maintains spreadsheets, databases, and records to support the department operations.

Assists with the annual audit and the preparation of the annual Treasurer’s Report.

Assists in the preparation of the annual budget.

Oversees the purchasing card program.

Reviews and approves requisitions and creates purchase orders. Assists with ensuring compliance with the Village’s purchasing policy.

Supports the Accounts Payable function by approving the voucher list and preparing the bi-monthly legislative item.   

Reports unclaimed assets to the State.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in finance, accounting or closely related field.

One to three years of recent work experience; experience in a municipal government or public body preferred.

Compensation

Hiring range for this position is $25.64 to $30.14 per hour DOQ.  This is FLSA non-exempt with an excellent benefit package, including health and life insurance, IMRF pension, vacation time, paid holidays and sick days.
