Downstate Conference Scholarship
The Downstate Chapter will award one scholarship to a Public-Sector attendee for the Downstate Annual Conference in Springfield, IL on February 17-18, 2022. The scholarship includes a complimentary registration to the conference as well as one night of lodging. (Lodging will be reimbursement upon receipt of paid invoice.) The scholarship recipient is responsible for any transportation costs.
Criteria for this award are:
- Applicant must be a Public-Sector Member of the Illinois Government Finance Officers Association, with the Downstate Chapter selected as the primary chapter; and
- Must currently hold a position in an Illinois government.
To apply, complete and return the form attached here by January 24, 2022. Applicants will be notified by email on or before February 7, 2022, of the Board’s final decision.

Session 4 - The Top 3 Challenges in Local Government

There are many challenges facing local governments. Some challenges are shared among departments, others are not. This session will focus on the top challenges facing local governments from an audit perspective. From new GASB pronouncements to changes in funding sources, from the pandemic to audit preparedness, finance departments across Illinois face an environment of constant change and growing uncertainty. Registration and cancellation policy
Payments by check should be mailed in advance or made at time of registration by credit card.
Cancellation of an event registration is subject to the following policy:
• No refunds will be given for cancellations the day of the event and no shows.
• For IGFOA event registration cancellations five (5) business days or more prior to an event, refunds will be offset by a $20 cancellation fee.
• For IGFOA event registration cancellations within five (5) business days of the training, refunds will be offset by a cancellation fee of 50% of the registration fee.
• A substitute attendee may be designated provided that the payment has been made and the IGFOA office has been notified in advance.
• Cancellation policy for chapter events may differ from this policy at the chapters’ discretion.
• A written request for a refund must be emailed to the IGFOA prior to the event.

IGFOA reserves the right to modify the agenda and/or speakers, cancel the training due to low enrollment, or to close registration if full. Should IGFOA cancel an event, cancellation notice will be sent to the email address provided by each registrant and prominently posted at the IGFOA website page announcing the event.
