The Village of Bartlett, IL (population 42,000) is a progressive, growing community located 35 miles west of downtown Chicago in Cook, DuPage, and Kane Counties.  The Finance Department is seeking an entry level Accountant to perform general accounting functions in support of the Village's fiscal management operations.

Under the general direction of the Finance Director, this individual will perform a variety of tasks related to daily and monthly general ledger activity, perform various account and bank reconciliations, prepare financial reports, and maintain accounting records.  The individual holding this position will also be responsible for assisting in the annual audit and operating budget process.  

This position requires a general knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures in local government finance, strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment supporting fellow employees and making constructive recommendations to improve processes and drive efficiency.  

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or closely related field, and two to four years recent work experience; experience in municipal government or public body strongly preferred.  

The Accountant is a non-union, exempt position.  The starting salary is $60,186.  The Village of Bartlett offers a generous benefit package, including medical, dental and life insurance; pension; paid vacation, personal and sick leave; post-retirement health savings plan; and deferred compensation plans.
