DESCRIPTION:About the IGFOA Academy\nThe Illinois Government Finance Profes
 sionals Academy is designed to provide a solid foundation of skills\, know
 ledge\, and an appreciation of the unique environment and dynamics of prof
 essional government finance practices in Illinois. The Academy provides pr
 ofessionals throughout Illinois the opportunity to participate in high qua
 lity education in a small\, student-focused setting.  Academy participants
  also engage in networking opportunities to strengthen professional develo
 pment\nThe two day Level I Academy delivers the full series of survey cour
 ses about all facets of government finance in Illinois.\nThose that comple
 te the entire Level I Academy within a two-year period will receive an Ill
 inois Government Finance Professional Level I Certificate.\nSchedule of Se
 ssions\nLearning Objectives - after attending this Academy\, participants 
 should be able to:\n\nIdentify primary best practices for government finan
 ce and access information about implementation of those practices\nExplain
  the basic principles of professional government finance\nConnect with pee

 d Attend\n\nNew finance department personnel seeking an overview of govern
 ment finance\nProfessionals with limited experience in government finance\

  scholarships available for the 2014 Academy?\nYes\, the Downstate Chapter
  of IGFOA offers scholarships for the 2014 Academies.  Apply by September
