Payroll Accountant | Village of Barrington

The Village of Barrington’s Finance Department is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Payroll Accountant.  Under the direction of the Director of Financial Services, this position is responsible for the preparing and processing of payroll for approximately 110 employees in addition to general accounting functions.

General Responsibilities:  Working under the general direction of the Financial Services, Human Resources /Risk Management Department, the candidate's responsibilities include ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing in accordance with State and Federal regulations, quarterly 941 filings, as well as annual W-2 processing and filing.  General accounting functions include preparing a variety of monthly and year-end journal entries.  

Position Requirements:  The successful candidate will have an Associate’s degree in Accounting or related field or two years of payroll experience or combination of education and experience will be considered.  This position requires strong attention to detail and excellent analytical, problem solving and communication skills.   Proficiency in Microsoft and Google suites is necessary. 

The position offer is contingent upon the candidate's successful completion of a criminal background check and a pre-employment medical exam, including a drug screen.
