Accounts Payable Manager | Moraine Valley Community College

Under the general supervision of the Assistant Controller, the Accounts Payable Manager will be responsible for preparing and processing all payments to Moraine Valley Community college vendors following college policies and procedures, ICCB, State of Illinois and Internal Revenue Service guidelines.

The Accounts Payable Manager regularly communicates with the Director of Purchasing to ensure that vendors are paid timely. Responsible for the development and implementation of accounts payable and fiscal policies and procedures to ensure good internal controls. Assist with preparation of audit schedules, reconciliations, and financial reports, and manage the disbursements of the college. Supervise and oversee Accounts Payable operations. Serve as the liaison with external auditors for accounts payable matters. Provide leadership to all staff in accounts payable, and ensure compliance with the Governmental Accounting Standards Board Statements. Interacts with external agencies, companies, students and the general public regarding financial matters of the college.

The Accounts Payable Manager is dedicated to the learning college concepts by developing programs and facilitating activities that promote student success and lifelong learning.


Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a business related field and five years progressively responsible experience in accounting or accounts payable required. Supervisory/management experience, work experience in accounts payable within higher education or knowledge of governmental or fund accounting, and experience with Ellucian preferred. Certified Accounts Payable Specialist preferred.


The Accounts Payable Manager will have excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work and interact effectively with faculty, staff, students and external agencies; knowledge of governmental accounting practices and procedures; experience with personal computer operations, accounting systems and applications; above average/advanced experience with Microsoft Office Excel and Word; strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to problem solve, work independently and use professional judgment.

Full Time; Salaried

Mimimum Starting Rate: $66,675
