Assistant Treasurer - Midlothian, Illinois

The Village of Midlothian, Illinois is a small community located 25 miles south of Chicago.  The Village is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Treasurer.  This full-time, exempt position is responsible for assisting the Village Treasurer with daily finance operations.

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• In charge of accounts payable and twice a month processing of bills for Board approval.
• Processes bi-weekly payroll and files monthly IMRF reports.
• Assists in the preparation of the annual budget and the 5-year Capital Improvement Plan.
• Prepares documents for annual audit process.
• Assists in the monthly reconciliation of bank statements and the monthly financial report to the Board.
• Coordinates the annual TIF Review Board meeting.
• Prepares periodic financial reports including the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and the Annual TIF Report.

Qualifications:  Minimum requirements include a Bachelor Degree in accounting or business with at least 2 years’ related accounting experience.  Municipal government experience preferred. 

The successful candidate must demonstrate a proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Excel.  This position requires excellent verbal and written skills as well as attention to detail. 

Salary is dependent on experience and qualifications.  The Village offers a comprehensive benefits package which includes IMRF, health and dental insurance, and life insurance.  The work schedule is 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
