IGFOA President's Update on COVID-19 - March 25, 2020

Posted March 25, 2020 in IGFOA updates

To IGFOA Members, Partners and Colleagues,

As we all respond to the disruptive effects of the COVID-19 pandemic both professionally and personally, IGFOA strives to keep its members informed by distributing daily email broadcasts with the most timely, reliable, and pertinent information from the Illinois Municipal League (IML) on COVID-19, including links to many resources. These updates will be sent as soon as released by the IML, which has been at the end of the business day. IML maintains a comprehensive list of resources and current information on its dedicated IML COVID-19 webpage.

In addition to the IML Resources, IGFOA members may find helpful information on the national GFOA Resource Center for Coronavirus Response webpage, State of Illinois Coronavirus Response webpage and posted FAQs.

Given the need for timely updates on COVID-19, IGFOA will forgo publishing the March 2020 issue of the Dispatch but anticipates resuming in June 2020.

As previously noted, IGFOA continues to closely monitor and follow the advice and direction from the State of Illinois, CDC and Illinois Department of Public Health to help minimize the spread of COVID-19. The health, safety, and welfare of IGFOA members, coworkers, and community members remains our top priority.

Accordingly, with the national GFOA moving its annual conference from an in-person to a virtual event, IGFOA has cancelled its May 17th social event in New Orleans. In addition, the Volunteer Appreciation event previously scheduled for May 7th, will be rescheduled to a later date at Arrowhead Golf Club in Wheaton. The May 28th webinar, “Military Leave – What to Expect from Beginning to End”, is expected to proceed as planned.

IGFOA is here to support its members through these challenging times. If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know.

Thanks and stay healthy,

Bill Hannah
President, IGFOA
