Event Description
Attention all IGFOA members who are current volunteers or are interested in learning more about becoming a volunteer. If you are a current IGFOA volunteer or considering becoming a volunteer, plan to attend a complimentary luncheon, volunteer training and leadership development seminar at The Morton Arboretum on Friday, November 6th from noon – 4:45 pm.
The seminar will begin with a lunch buffet followed by two volunteer training and leadership sessions. Attendees will learn about IGFOA volunteer opportunities, how to be an effective support volunteer and volunteer leader, and about the IGFOA’s structure, policies, and volunteer resources. The day will conclude with a tram tour of the Morton Arboretum. The sessions are eligible for about 2.5 CPE credits.
There is no charge for IGFOA members to attend, and anyone volunteering for the IGFOA should plan to attend.

1:00 PM – 2:30 PM - How to be an Effective Support Volunteer or Volunteer Leader - Alicia Schatteman, Northern Illinois University

2:45 PM – 3:45 PM - Understanding IGFOA Structure, Policies, and Resources
• Review the structure of the IGFOA
• Discuss primary IGFOA policies
• Review resources available to volunteers
3:45 PM - 4:30 PM - Tour of Morton Arboretum
• Board the Arboretum Tram outside the Visitors Center for a 45 minute narrated tour

• Learn how to be a successful support volunteer
• Learn how to be an effective volunteer leader
• Understand the structure and primary policies of the IGFOA

All IGFOA Members who are current volunteers or interested in volunteering are invited to the IGFOA Volunteer Training and Leadership Development Program. There is no charge, however registration is required.

CPE Registry Illinois Government Finance Officers Association (IGFOA) is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State Boards of Accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit.
