Event Description
Join the IGFOA South Metro Chapter for a professional development seminar on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at the Village of Frankfort. The half-day seminar includes four sessions and a networking lunch held at the conclusion of the last session.

Session 1 - UNDERSTANDING MOODY’S CREDIT RATING PROCESS AND NEW CITIES AND COUNTIES METHODOLOGY
Moody’s Investors Service experts will discuss the recent changes in Moody’s rating methodology and how it will impact the ratings of local units of government in Illinois. They will also review the rating timeline and process.

Participants will take an internal look at their definition of work life balance and think and self-reflect through information and activities. They will take away tips and tricks to get a better handle on how well they are doing as well as strategies to get better at balance.

Session 3 - MITIGATING THE COST OF MEDICAL INSURANCE AND MAXIMIZING INVESTMENT INCOME IN YOUR ORGANIZATION
Join two knowledgeable and experienced government finance professionals as they share practical information on how to mitigate the costs of medical insurance…your #2 operating expense and explore the current investment markets, including reviewing key strategies to help maximize potential investment income in this new rate environment.

Session 4 - HR FUNDAMENTALS OF FINANCE FOLKS
Human Resources responsibilities can fall into different departments depending on the size and structure of the municipalities. They could be under the Manager’s office or a separate HR department. Many times, however, the Finance Director and Department is charged with ensuring that many of these responsibilities are completed. This session aims to arm finance staff with knowledge to administer basic HR functions to remain compliant, to instill positive labor relations, and to deal with personnel issues effectively.

Registration & Cancellation Policy
Payments by check should be mailed in advance or made at time of registration by credit card.
Cancellation of an event registration is subject to the following policy:
• No refunds will be given for cancellations the day of the event and no shows.
• For IGFOA event registration cancellations five (5) business days or more prior to an event, refunds will be offset by a $20 cancellation fee.
• For IGFOA event registration cancellations within five (5) business days of the training, refunds will be offset by a cancellation fee of 50% of the registration fee.
• A substitute attendee may be designated provided that the payment has been made and the IGFOA office has been notified in advance.
• Cancellation policy for chapter events may differ from this policy at the chapters’ discretion.
• A written request for a refund must be emailed to the IGFOA prior to the event.
By submitting this registration, the applicant agrees to the registration and cancellation policy above.
IGFOA reserves the right to modify the agenda and/or speakers, cancel the training due to low enrollment, or to close registration if full. Should IGFOA cancel an event, cancellation notice will be sent to the email address provided by each registrant and prominently posted at the IGFOA website page announcing the event.
