Event Description

This session will provide a high-level explanation of the basic principles of governmental accounting and financial reporting. Learn about the theory behind the 12 basic accounting principles and discuss the fundamentals of fund accounting and financial reporting. This session will put the “fun” in fund accounting!

Learning Objectives:  Participants completing this session will be able to:

  • Understand the theories which establish basic accounting principles;
  • Comprehend governmental accounting terminology;
  • Recognize and implement key accounting theories such as measurement focus; and
  • Identify the links between budgetary reporting and financial reporting.
