Event Description

The Fed Funds Target Rate has risen seven times from December 2015 through June 2018 causing short-term fixed income yields to rise as well.  Local governments are now seeing cash deposits rates at their highest levels in nearly a decade and the investment income line item in their budgets becoming a relevant source of revenue again. Since rates have been low for so long, this luncheon’s focus will be on the important considerations local governments should think about when investing in a rising interest rate environment.

Topics of discussion will include the recent rise in rates, possible changes to your investment strategy, and the forecast for rate movements in the future. This discussion will be relevant to local governments of all types and sizes.

Speaker: Michelle Binns, Senior Managing Consultant, PFM

Presented by the Downstate chapter
