 The Village of Orland Park, a dynamic, progressive community seeks a Financial Analyst who, under general direction, can perform work of considerable difficulty in assisting the Finance Director and Assistant Finance Director with analysis of the Village’s financial functions. 

 The Village of Orland Park is a premier community located 30 miles southwest of Chicago’s Loop with a residential population of nearly 60,000, and is the commercial and retail hub of the Chicago south suburban region.  This position is responsible for applying principles of accounting in order to prepare and analyze financial information and perform a variety of standard and complex technical accounting, finance, and administrative assignments.  The duties and responsibilities listed below may not be inclusive; the listed items are only meant to provide a general idea of the functional responsibilities of the Financial Analyst position.

 This position assists the Assistant Finance Director and Finance Director with the annual audit and budget report preparation; grant administration and completing special projects as assigned.   In addition, this position prepares special surveys, census financial reports, and annual unclaimed property report, monthly and quarterly reports for the Village’s special events, Veteran’s Commission, permit fees and various road projects.

 The Financial Analyst also analyzes general ledger accounts on a monthly basis and prepares reports as requested and adjusting entries as needed, compiles budget adjustments for approval by the Village Board and enters them into the financial system, and performs Village-wide internal audits on an as needed basis. 

 Other responsibilities include assisting in the development of a financial policies and procedures manual, providing back up support to other finance positions as needed, tracking and processing bond payments to ensure correct and timely payment.  In addition, this position tracks and analyzes capital expenditures throughout the fiscal year, enters capital asset information into financial software, prepares capital asset reports for audits, completes annual property exempt affidavit. Maintains all property files, prepares the quarterly sales tax filing. 

 This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA designation is preferred. Two – five years of related financial analysis experience is also required, experience in municipal finance/accounting is strongly preferred.  The ideal candidate will have experience with enterprise financial management systems and have advanced level Microsoft Excel skills.  Strong analytical abilities are required.  Ability to maintain confidential information and work as a team is required.  Strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines is also required.   We seek a candidate that has high standards of performance, productivity and initiative, and that consistently embraces the philosophy of continuous improvement.   The ideal candidate must have well developed interpersonal and oral/written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex numerical data effectively in clear graphic formats to ensure understanding by a non-technical audience. This candidate will act as the subject matter expert when working directly with members of other departments. This individual will demonstrate strong interactive skills when presenting and training others to use the financial software.

 The salary for this position starts at $74,727 depending on qualifications. The Village of Orland Park offers a comprehensive employee benefits program which includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and an employee wellness program.
