Accountant | Village of Buffalo Grove

The Village of Buffalo Grove Finance Department is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Accountant. This position is responsible for maintaining the Village’s finances and assisting the Finance Department in numerous activities including general ledger, utility billing, payroll and accounts payable. 

The duties of this position include, but are not limited to, maintaining general ledger accounts, preparing journal entries, reconciling and overseeing A/R and revenue processes, assisting with annual audit and CAFR production, analyzing current year budget trends and expenditures, maintaining the fiscal records of the Village, reconciling bank statements, and assisting in front office customer service when needed.  

Education and Work Experience

The successful candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, and one to three years’ experience in municipal finance, public accounting or auditing. Candidates should possess strong knowledge of general accepted accounting principles; be proficient in Microsoft (e.g.  Excel, Word, PowerPoint); have efficient organizational skills with the ability to work independently and follow general oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with internal and external customers of the Village. 

CPA certification preferred but not required. Knowledge of New World Systems financial software is a plus.  

Salary

The current salary range for this position is $67,132 – $100,048 +/- DOQ
