The Accounting Manager plays a vital role in supporting the Village’s financial operations. Working both independently and alongside a collaborative Finance Department team, this individual oversees and performs a wide range of professional, technical, and supervisory duties to deliver sound financial management that best supports the organization’s needs.
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Overseeing day-to-day Finance operations such as accounts receivable and payable, purchasing and contracting, payroll, utility billing, license and permitting services, and financial reporting; supervising three Finance Department staff members.
• Assists with the annual audit, collecting and compiling, schedules, confirmations, and other documents.
• Supports the annual budget process by analyzing departmental requests, assisting in the development of budget materials, compiling expenditures, and supporting trend analysis.
• Performing bank reconciliations, journal entries, and preparing monthly financial reports.
• Helps maintain the general ledger and ensuring accurate tracking of revenues and expenses.
The Village is looking for a candidate that has both technical expertise and a collaborative spirit. The ideal candidate will have: a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; at least five years of progressively responsible experience in accounting or finance, including supervisory experience; excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively; and a proactive mindset and commitment to continuous improvement. Experience in local government or municipal finance is preferred but not required.
The salary range for this position is $81,288 to $113,803 DOQ. The Village offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and life insurance, Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) pension, paid time off, professional development, annual cost of living increase and merit-based increases. Successful completion of physical exam, background investigation including reference checks, and drug screening is required.
This position is a salaried position and exempt under FLSA. This role is required to work onsite. Village Hall hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
