The Village of Tinley Park has an exciting opportunity for local government finance professionals to join the finance team as a key member of the department. Under the direction of the Treasurer, this position will assist in meeting the policy objectives of the Village Board and is empowered to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the Village Treasurer in his/her absence. The Assistant Treasurer will oversee the day-to-day administration of the treasury function of the Village while contributing to the organization by providing strategic leadership developing and implementing department goals, objectives, policies, and priorities, and strong internal controls. The Assistant Treasurer will supervise nine (9) direct reports and the customer service function, while overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department. This position will serve as an integral member of the Village’s budget team and assisting the Treasurer in completing the budget document and will also produce and distribute timely financial and statistical reports, complete the Village’s Comprehensive Annual Finance Report (CAFR) and coordinate the Village’s application for the GFOA awards and assume full responsibility for the timely completion of the Village’s annual audit process. This position will also direct the effective operations of the cashiering, utility billing, accounts payable/receivable, customer service, and payroll functions of the Finance Department as well as oversee the centralized computerized financial information system.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Public Administration, or a closely related field. A minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of progressively responsible municipal financial experience. Previous supervisory experience is required. CPA is strongly preferred.

Our ideal candidate will be a career financial professional with local government experience with extensive knowledge of fiscal administration principles and practices of municipal accounting, including treasury management, GAAP accounting, budget administration, purchasing, and reporting. They will have a passion for excellence, be financially savvy, have a strong work ethic, ability to exercise excellent judgement to make independent decisions, and a proven ability to work effectively across the organization. They will have excellent communication skills to effectively communicate at all levels and the ability to deliver public presentations. They will have multiple years of supervisory experience overseeing a variety of internal accounting operations, customer facing operations, and staff positions.

Compensation & Benefits: The salary for this position starts at $110,000 - $125,000, DOQ plus a generous benefit package including health, dental, and vision benefits, employer-paid life insurance and other ancillary benefit options. Retirement benefits through the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) are provided along with the option to participate in a 457(b) deferred compensation plan. The Village of Tinley Park also provides for paid vacation, personal days, and paid Village holidays.

Residency Requirement: All employees in this position are required to reside within thirty (30) miles from any border of Tinley Park, within twelve (12) months of employment date. Residency in Indiana in not permitted. No relocation expenses provided or reimbursed.
