The Village of Crestwood, IL is seeking applicants for the position of Comptroller for the Finance Department.

 

GENERAL DUTIES: In this role you will be performing a variety of accounting functions, such as processing cash receipts, preparing journal entries, bank reconciliations, assisting with month-end and year-end closing of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, utility billing, and general ledger systems, annual audit-related duties, preparing of a variety of financial reports, assisting in maintaining accurate financial records, assisting in daily cash receipts processing, cash management, investment tracking for all treasury functions, providing accounting direction and guidance to other Village departments for related grant requirements, and performing related accounting tasks as assigned. In addition, you will research and implement latest accounting standards, GASB pronouncements, Village policies and procedures, as well as accounting system modifications. Must be able to maintain financial security by monitoring and adhering to internal controls.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education/Experience: The successful candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree.  Candidates should also have three years of progressively responsible public sector experience and/or training.   A master’s degree or CPA is desirable.  

 

Skills: Must have strong organization skills, the ability to work with a high degree of accuracy/attention to detail, knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines, proficiency using spreadsheets and other financial software tools, and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, is key in this position. Must ensure best in class customer service is provided to both internal and external customers. Having knowledge using BS&A Financial Software preferred.

HIRING RANGE & BENEFITS: $85,000 – $101,000 D.O.Q.
