The Village of Mount Prospect, IL (54,167 pop.), is seeking an experienced finance executive with proven leadership skills to become the next Deputy Director of Finance. The Village is located 23 miles northwest of downtown Chicago and minutes away from O’Hare International and Chicago Executive airports. Mount Prospect boasts over 30 shopping centers found along major corridors including Elmhurst Road (IL Route 83), Golf Road (IL Route 58), and Rand Road (US Route 12). The Village of Mount Prospect is a strategic $160 million public corporation responsible for providing professional, high-quality and responsive emergency and municipal services with a strong emphasis on customer service.  Mount Prospect is a Council-Manager form of government in which an appointed Village Manager and professional staff manage daily operations.

The Finance Department team is comprised of 11 full-time and 4 part-time staff. The Deputy Director of Finance reports directly to the Director of Finance and assists in day to day operation and management of the Finance Department. The Finance Department consists of three divisions:  Customer Service, Accounting and Administration. The Customer Service Supervisor and Accounting Supervisor directly report to the Deputy Director of Finance. The major job functions include financial oversight of the daily operations, internal controls, financial forecasting, accounting and financial reporting, annual audit, annual budget and CIP, employee management, payroll management, treasury management, ERP/Software Management, purchasing and other departmental functions. The Deputy Director of Finance also assists in compliance with State/Federal and Local Governmental Agencies, investment, risk management, financial analysis and special projects. The ideal candidate will have exceptional interpersonal skills and attitude to drive innovation and operational improvements throughout the organization.

The starting salary range for this position is from $100,660 to $120,000 (depending upon qualifications). The Village offers an excellent benefits package. Qualified candidates should have three (3) to five (5) years of professional financial and accounting experience for a public employer and three (3) years of experience in supervising and managing fiscal operations for local government. A Master’s degree in public or business administration, accounting, financial management or related field is preferred. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred.  Note: IL residency is required.
