The Village of Arlington Heights is accepting applications for a detail-oriented and analytical Financial Assistant to support a wide range of administrative and financial functions within the Finance Department, with a strong focus on Accounts Receivable. This is an excellent opportunity for an organized finance or accounting professional to contribute to the fiscal health of the Village and the community we serve.
As a key member of the Finance team, the Financial Assistant will be responsible for reconciling daily cash receipts, preparing and posting journal entries, and ensuring accuracy across the general ledger and subledger. This position will generate invoices and billing statements and research and resolve discrepancies. The Financial Assistant will also assist with monthly closings, annual financial reporting, and periodic reconciliation of ambulance billing activity.
This role requires frequent interaction with other departments and external agencies to resolve account issues and ensure timely and accurate financial records. In addition to daily transactional duties, the Financial Assistant will compile financial data for internal reporting, and respond to inquiries related to accounts, billing, and departmental procedures. This position may also support other financial processes and special projects as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have at least a high school diploma or equivalent, additional technical training in bookkeeping or accounting, and two years of previous accounting or bookkeeping experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are essential in this role. Experience maintaining accurate records, performing reconciliations, and working with financial systems is required. This position requires proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Experience with Tyler Munis is preferred.
The salary range for this position is $69,390–$93,675, with an anticipated hiring range of $69,390–$71,306, depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a 37.5-hour work week, Monday through Friday.
