Join the Village of Orland Park’s award winning Finance Department in upholding the Village’s commitment to fiscal responsibility while promoting excellent customer service.  The Finance Department seeks a Part-Time Payroll Coordinator to assist with payroll preparation and administration, prepare and analyze financial information and perform a variety of standard and complex technical accounting, finance, and administrative assignments. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to, reviewing timesheet submittals and enforcing department submittal deadlines; reconciling hours worked with payroll reports and researching discrepancies; tracking all aspects of retiree continued benefits and ensuring that all payments are received and posted (to include HRA's, submitting monthly report to TASC and initiating contribution funding); maintaining payroll services email; updating employee payroll related requests; and tracking and reviewing employee expense report submittals.

In addition, this role maintains position budgetary control reports; updates assignment authorizations to ensure proper budgetary controls; maintains Salary Budget schedules to be used for budget planning; assists with the preparation of annual audit schedules, annual budget worksheets, presentations and published budget documents; prepares special surveys and census financial reports; and assists with other special projects, tasks and/or duties as assigned. 

A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.  At least two years of finance/accounting experience is required, with a particular focus on payroll processing, OR any combination of education, experience, and training that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities listed.  Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel proficiency is mandatory. 

Knowledge of payroll and compensation laws and principles, along with strong analytical abilities are required.  Ability to maintain confidential information and work with other department members is required.  Strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines is required.

This position is part time and requires approximately 29 hours a week.  Regular and consistent attendance is required for this position.

Pay rate:  Starting at $23.53 hourly. 

This position is eligible for IMRF (Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund) Benefits.
