Payroll Specialist | City of Oak Forest

The City of Oak Forest is seeking applicants for the position of Payroll Specialist. This is a part-time position performing detail-oriented bookkeeping, accounting and administrative work in administering the entire payroll function to generate the City’s bi-weekly computerized payroll. This position is responsible for providing financial, administrative and clerical services in order to ensure effective, efficient and accurate financial operations related to all payroll functions. The position reports to the Finance Director.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- 2-4 years of payroll experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
- Experience working in payroll for a government agency is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and automated accouting systems.
- Minimum of an Associates Degree or two years of technical or business school, including courses in accounting preferred.
Starting salary: Between $24.00 and $25.00 per hour; the maximum hourly rate for this position is $27.00 per hour. This is a non-union part-time position with a flexible work schedule, working up to a maximum of 20 hours a week; no other benefits are available related to this position.
