The City of Rolling Meadows is seeking a Payroll Specialist to play a critical role in ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant payroll operations for City and Library employees. This is a professional-level position within the Finance Department responsible for administering payroll for a diverse, unionized workforce. The Payroll Specialist processes bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll activities; interprets multiple collective bargaining agreements; and ensures compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations. Beyond payroll, this role contributes to financial reporting, grant management, budgeting, auditing, and special projects, working closely with departments across the organization.

Education & Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or higher in public administration, business administration, finance, accounting, or a closely related field is required. A minimum of three (3) years of professional financial and payroll experience is required, with municipal experience preferred. Experience with Tyler EERP (formerly Munis) is a plus. Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, the ability to interpret union contracts, and the discretion required to manage highly confidential information.

Compensation & Benefits: The hiring range for this position is $67,172 to $99,576 annually, dependent on qualifications and experience. The salary range is adjusted annually, and employees are considered for raises annually based on performance.
