Senior Accountant | Moraine Valley Community College

The Senior Accountant will work with the Controller in analyzing and providing internal and external financial data for the College. Responsible for preparing bank reconciliations, journal entries, budget transfers, and financial reporting for the College. The Senior Accountant will also monitor the College’s credit card and daily cash activity along with reconciling various general ledger accounts. The Senior Accountant is dedicated to the learning college concepts by developing programs and facilitating activities that promote student success and lifelong learning.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 2 to 4 years of accounting and/or auditing experience preferably in public schools, colleges, local government or not-for-profit organizations required.

Knowledge of governmental accounting practices and procedures.
Above average verbal and written communication skills.
Above average organizational skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel programs.
Experience with computerized accounting systems.
Above average computer skills.
Must be able to interact with departmental personnel.
Must be able to interact professionally with all levels of administrative staff and outside agency personnel.

Preferred Qualifications:

Work experience with governmental or fund accounting within higher education or other type of governmental agency
Experience with Ellucian Colleague
