We promoted our Assistant Finance Director to Finance Director and are now seeking another outstanding professional to join our team!

Hinsdale, IL (17,637).  Hinsdale is a historic and beautiful community with a thriving and charming downtown and architecturally distinct homes.  Hinsdale is home to nationally recognized schools and a downtown that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Located 20 miles west of Chicago in DuPage and Cook Counties, Hinsdale is a full-service community with a $45.5  million total budget and 99 full-time employees and  117 FTEs.

The Village of Hinsdale is seeking a collaborative finance professional to serve as its next Assistant Finance Director.  Top responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the Finance Director in administering all Village finance department activities including general ledger maintenance, account reconciliation, accounts receivable, accounts payable, utility billing, payroll and benefits, parking citations, vehicle registration, and reception ; proposes and coordinates the implementation of new financial policies and procedures.

 

  • Supervising personnel in the functional areas of accounts payable, accounts receivable, utility billing, cash receipts, customer service and payroll processing.  Carries out supervisory responsibility in accordance with Village policies, procedures and applicable law.

 

  • Coordinating activities of the independent annual audit. 

The Finance division has 6  full-time and 2 part-time authorized positions and is part of the Administrative Department of the Village, which also includes the Village Manager’s Office, Information Technology and Economic Development, with a $2.7 million operating budget.  The Village of Hinsdale is a non-home rule municipality that operates under the Council/Manager form of government. The Village President and six members of the Board of Trustees are elected at large for four-year terms.

The Village places a strong emphasis on customer service and excellence in municipal service delivery, with a ‘AAA’ rating on its last bond issue from Standard & Poor’s and Fitch Ratings.  The Village has consistently received the GFOA Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting and annually meets its budget reserve policy. 

The next Assistant Finance Director must have proven effective management and communication skills.  Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree with at least five years of increasingly related finance experience.  Experience in Illinois, a CPA and/or Master’s Degree preferred. Any combination of education and experience that provides the equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.  

Starting salary range is $88,762 – 136,664.  Starting salary is up to $120,000, DOQ.  The Village of Hinsdale offers a comprehensive and competitive benefit plan which includes generous contributions to medical, dental, vision, life insurance and the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund, optional 457 plans, and paid vacation, personal, sick and holiday time.
