Located 20 miles west of Chicago in DuPage and Cook Counties, Hinsdale is a full-service community with a $45.5 million total budget and 99 full-time employees and 117 FTEs.
The Village of Hinsdale is seeking a progressive, collaborative finance executive to serve as its next Finance Director.
- The position is responsible for the management of all financial functions of the Village and Hinsdale Public Library, including general ledger, budget preparation, cash and debt management, payroll and benefits administration, tax levy, pension funds, and audit preparation. The position is appointed by and reports to the Village Manager and is an integral part of the executive leadership team. This position also serves as Village Treasurer and is appointed by the Village President.
- The Finance division has 6 full-time and 2 part-time authorized positions and is part of the Administrative Department of the Village, which also includes the Village Manager’s Office, Information Technology and Economic Development, with a $2.7 million operating budget.
- The Village of Hinsdale is a non-home rule municipality that operates under the Council/Manager form of government. The Village President and six members of the Board of Trustees are elected at large for four-year terms.
- The Village places a strong emphasis on customer service and excellence in municipal service delivery, with a ‘AAA’ rating on its last bond issue from Standard & Poor’s and Fitch Ratings. The Village has consistently received the GFOA Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting and annually meets its budget reserve policy.
The next Finance Director must have proven effective leadership, communication, negotiation, team building, and long-range strategic planning skills, and a demonstrated enthusiasm for working closely with elected and appointed officials. Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Public Administration, Finance or another applicable field with at least seven years of increasingly responsible public sector management experience, of which five years is at an executive level. Experience in Illinois, a CPA and/or Master’s Degree preferred. Any combination of education and experience that provides the equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.
Starting salary range is $150,000+/- DOQ and excellent benefits.
