Financial Analyst | Forest Preserve District of DuPage County

Job Purpose

This position manages the District’s cash flow, assists in long range financial planning, prepares financial statements, coordinates preparation of the annual budget, prepares the District Tax Levy request, performs various analyses of expense and revenue trends, and is responsible for various general accounting activities. The position also administers the controls over the accounting system.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Analyze cash flow needs and initiate movement of District funds between banking and investment financial institutions
• Coordinate the preparation of the annual budget
• Prepare the annual Tax Levy
• Establish and maintain security and internal controls relative to the financial system. Act as system administrator
• Oversee the preparation of financial statements, year-end audit adjustments and schedules. Act as liaison with outside auditors
• Perform financial analysis relative to long range forecasting, spending trends and special projects
• Maintain records for capital assets and related depreciation
• Perform other duties as required

Education and Experience Required

Education: BS/BA in Finance, Accounting, or related field.

Related Experience: Five (5) to seven (7) years progressive accounting experience, including experience in financial analysis; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Knowledge Of: Governmental accounting procedures and policies. External auditing procedures and practices; accounting software packages; Microsoft Office and spreadsheet software packages.

Skills In: Preparing financial statements and reports. Quantitative analysis and financial forecasting; managing and prioritizing multiple tasks; meeting various deadlines; communicating effectively, (both verbal and written), taking independent inititaive.
