Senior Accountant | Village of Westmont

Position Summary:

Westmont is a community of 24,429 residents in the southeastern portion of DuPage County.  We are centrally located in the Chicago Metro area with easy access to major highways and Metra, making commuting a breeze.  We are home to both Fortune 500 companies and small to midsize local businesses, including over 100 restaurants; so, we have a little something for everyone.  

The Village of Westmont is seeking the right candidate to fill a highly responsible professional position that performs the day-to-day financial accounting activities and functions of the Village.  Work involves calculating, verifying, posting, and balancing a variety of financial transactions for various aspects of the Village’s accounting system.

This position is also responsible for all aspects of payroll, grant accounting/reporting, fixed asset management, and coordination and preparation for annual audits. Qualifications:

Requires graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Accounting or an equivalent degree with an emphasis on finance or accounting, or the equivalent knowledge, skills, and mental development equivalent to the completion of the degree, as well as an equivalent combination of education and experience.  

Applicants should have considerable experience (5+ years) in accounting work including experience with computerized accounting systems; a CPA or CPFO is desired, but not required.  Previous experience in municipal accounting is preferred.

Starting Annual Salary:

This is a full time, exempt (salaried) position with a starting wage of $73,798.40 - $83,847.71/yr (DOQ).
