Budget Analyst | City of Aurora

Under the direction of the Director of Financial Operations, the Budget Analyst is responsible for assisting with the development of the City’s capital improvement plan and annual budget. Duties of this position also include but are not limited to: Monitor revenue and expenditures and investigate items that significantly vary from budgetary amounts; Conduct research and analysis; Prepare schedules and graphs; Maintain databases; Prepare budget forms and worksheets; Train City personnel on use of budget system; Assist City departments with budgetary questions; Other duties as assigned.

This position requires knowledge of principles, practices and methods of governmental accounting, budgeting, finance, and administration; Knowledge of municipal structure, functions, and operations; Knowledge of database, spreadsheet, and graphics software; Ability to analyze and review figures, statis­tics, and data and prepare complete and accurate records; Excellent oral and written communication skills.

This position requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field or a master’s degree in public or business administration with at least twelve (12) college semester credit hours in finance or accounting; A valid driver’s license. 

Must successfully pass pre-hire requirements including but not limited to a physical, drug screen, and background check. 

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Starting annual salary is $58,281.60, depending on qualifications. Excellent benefit package.
