COMMUNITY PROFILE:
Kane County Regional Office of Education (Kane ROE), incorporated in 1829, is located in Geneva, IL and serves the residents of Kane County, IL. and assists with nine school districts (U-46, Batavia 101, West Aurora 129, East Aurora 131, District 300, Central 301, Kaneland 302, St. Charles 303, and Geneva 304).
Kane ROE serves over 1,686 educators and covers 524 square miles. Kane ROE acts as an advocate for education by providing leadership, coordinating, and delivering, state and local services, such as administer High School Equivalency Exams, provide school and home visits, license new educators, train bus drivers and fingerprint educational staff.
JOB SUMMARY:
The ROE is currently accepting applications for the position of Finance Director. This position reports directly to the Regional Superintendent. The position is responsible for the management, assignment, direction and general supervision of Finance Department, including: overseeing the ROE’s cash and investments, coordinating the annual financial audit, preparing and reviewing account reconciliations and reports relating to financial records, and overseeing and directing the preparation of the annual budget.
In addition, the incumbent is responsible for performing a wide variety of special assignments to meet the requirements of the ROE management team. Work is carried out independently.
The position is a full-time exempt level position with a regular schedule of 37.5 hours per week. The position generally works from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDING, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Coordinate, manage, and train ROE staff using Finance software & procedures
- Create and monitor internal financial control policies and processes
- Initiate and direct ROE Annual Budget process including Skyward input and approval as well as work with Grant managers to provide financial data for grant budgeting annually
- Oversee all deposits and investments under direction of Regional Superintendent as well as maintain bank accounts of ROE on a daily basis; Supervise AR and CR processes daily
- Manage AP processes including check and ACH creation and vendor creation; including annual 1099/1096 process from start to finish
- Maintain employment files and new employee on-boarding process
- Work with County as Payroll Coordinator and execute bi-weekly PR processes from start to finish
- Remit TRS/THIS payments to TRS bi-weekly and reconcile TRS reporting annually
- Submit Grant Expenditure reports in IWAS for Regional Superintendent approval at least quarterly
- Review GL on an on-going basis and prepare all adjustments for Regional Superintendent approval
- Manage preparation of year-end financial statements to auditors including all supporting schedules and documentation
- Prepare Annual County ROE Budget documents and attend budget hearing with Regional Superintendent
- Receive and review for Regional Superintendent approval the District AFRs annually: Submit approved AFRS to ISBE Business Office as required
- Prepare Treasurer’s Bond Affidavit with District information for Regional Superintendent as required
- Act as KEEP Treasurer and prepare all financial documents and information returns for KEEP on an annual basis
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDING, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Fund accounting experience required
- Knowledge of Fund Accounting Software such as Skyward preferred
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products to include Excel, Word, Outlook required.
- Must have experience preparing month and year-end financial statements
- Must have experience with AR, AP, PR and budgeting
- Must have experience and knowledge with audit processes
- Consistent and positive customer interactions to maintain a businesslike environment at all times
- Organizational Skills, flexibility, and ability to quickly learn new technologies and services
- Capable of handling matters of confidential nature
- Strong communication skills, supervisory experience

Bachelor’s degree required in Finance/Accounting/Management; CPA preferred
Minimum of 5 years in field with at least 2 of those years in management position
Preferred experience as an auditor strongly recommended
