Starting Salary Range: $95,000 – $114,000

The Village of Riverwoods (population 3,784) is seeking an experienced and motivated Accounting Manager to join our team. Founded in 1959 along the scenic Des Plaines River in Lake County, Riverwoods is an environmentally conscious residential community just 30 miles north of Chicago. Known for its preserved woodlands, natural beauty, and strong sense of community, Riverwoods offers an outstanding quality of life with convenient access to major highways (2 miles off I-294 on Lake Cook Road), dining, and shopping.

Reporting to the Finance Director, the Accounting Manager will oversee and process the Village’s day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, purchasing, utility billing, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting. This position plays a key role in preparing accurate financial statements, supporting the budget process, ensuring compliance with GAAP and GASB standards, and assisting with audits and special projects.

The ideal candidate will be adaptable, detail-oriented, and collaborative, with the ability to perform tasks ranging from hands-on invoice entry to strategic oversight of the full accounting function.  This position is an on-site position generally scheduled Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3–5 years of progressively responsible accounting/finance experience; municipal finance experience highly desirable.
• Proficiency with accounting software (BS&A local government software preferred) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
