We’re looking for an Assistant Finance Director who can blend financial expertise with a passion for public service, helping to guide our Village toward a strong and sustainable future.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and oversee accounting, budgeting, payroll, utility billing, and financial reporting functions.
  • Supervise and mentor staff, fostering professional growth and teamwork.
  • Ensure compliance with governmental accounting standards (GASB) and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor financial activities and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and internal controls.
  • Assist with preparing the annual audit, budget, and multi-year financial plans.
  • Step into the Finance Director’s role when needed, ensuring smooth departmental operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in finance, accounting, public management or related field. 
  • Five or more years progressively responsible related experience in governmental accounting.
  • Two or more years supervisory experience, or any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. 
  • CPA is beneficial but not required.

  • The courage to lead change – They must be able to guide the department, and at times, the organization, through changing regulations, expectations, technology, and the idiosyncrasies of time.

COMPENSATION

The base salary range for this position is $121,410 - $148,667, depending on qualifications.  The Village provides a comprehensive benefits package, including IMRF, health, dental, and vision insurance, 457 retirement plans, and flexible spending accounts. In addition to the afore mentioned benefits the Village has generous paid vacation, sick leave, holidays, and personal day policies.
