The Village of Riverwoods is seeking a highly qualified and creative individual to serve as its next Finance Director. Riverwoods, a Home Rule status Village was incorporated in 1959 with the overarching objective of preserving the unique wooded environment and tranquil setting unusual for a community whose southern boundary  is  now Lake Cook Road and within in one half mile of Interstate 94. The Village’s location has presented a unique challenge to our woodland and preservation planning objectives, but has  also encouraged private investment opportunity which has the potential to enhance our physical land features  The Village has structured its financial services  and service delivery system complimentary to those challenges and opportunities. A low cost/no debt structure to delivery of excellent municipal services is a milestone achievement for any community and Riverwoods has achieved this in large part to attracting exceptionally well qualified and visionary Directors and contractors to produce enduring success. With a $3.9M budget which is complimented by leveraging municipal services in regional Fire Protection and rescue services, excellent schools, and regional tertiary sewerage treatment and delivery of Lake Michigan water for those property owners seeking these utility services has been an enduring success. These services have produced  sustaining and positive results for  Riverwoods property owners.

The successful candidate will bring to the Village a successful track record of working with public agency (preferred) accounting systems, creatively  launched fiscal  services , and  a record of achievement complimentary to the need going forward with the needs of the Village of Riverwoods. A bachelors degree is required,  and 5 years position related experience in financial management and forecasting, accounting, and delivery of exceptional financial services is expected. A masters degree is desirable and preferred. The Village operates in a highly collaborative work environment.
