General Summary and Purpose:

Oversees the management of Waukegan Township finances to include coordinating, reviewing, and maintaining all financial records for all departments/divisions of Waukegan Township. Responsible for the investment and security of all Waukegan Township funds. Implements procedures to expand revenues in support of Waukegan Township through sponsorships and/or grants.

Essential Duties

  • Oversee Accounting Department staff and daily accounting functions.
  • Manage all Waukegan Township Bank Accounts.
  • Manage General Ledgers & create Financial Statements for all Waukegan Township funds.
  • Prepare Revenue and Expense Statements for Board review and approval.
  • Prepare Annual Budgets and present them to the Board for approval.
  • Prepare Tax Levies and present them to the Board for approval and submission to the County.
  • Create monthly IMRF pension contribution statements report.
  • Manage and prepare all necessary records for various Audits.
  • Responsible for all financial aspects of new grants and funding applications.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications:

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's or minimum of 7 years of experience in Municipal Accounting and Budgets.
  • Possess Supervisory Skills.

 DESIRED:

  • Master’s degree in accounting or financial field.
  • Proficient in investments.

Compensation:

The Waukegan Township offers a comprehensive employee compensation and benefits package which includes the following:

  • Position Range: $100,000 to $125,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
