Accountant | BI-STATE METROPOLITAN PLANNING COMM

Starting salary $4,167/mo. or higher DOQ.  Responsibilites include:  Preparation of monthly accounting records including AP, AR, and PR.  Provide backup for Requisitioning and GL processing.  Monitor laws and rules related to state/federal agencies including 2CFR/requirements.  Assist with general procurement and joint purchasing for member governments.  Prepare detailed budget information for grants including Illinois Government Accounting Transparency Act (GATA).  Ability to independently evaluate, select and apply standard techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgement and making adaptation and modifications.  Work in an office setting.  Prepare/disseminate information in suitable formats.  Extensive interaction with internal and external contacts.  Successful candidate will possess strong organizational, planning, verbal/written communication, project management, analytical and problem solving skills.  Requires three years or more experience related to governmental accounting, administration, grant fiscal administration, including knowledge  of all aspects of governmental accounting functions, with considerable knowledge/experience with generally accepted accounting principles, accounting terminology and methods.  Minimum BA in Accounting, Public Administration, or related field required.  Excellent benefits (retirement, health, life insurance, short  and long term disability, vacation, sick, holidays, education reimbursement, assistance with moving costs), and merit review program.  Centrally located 2.5 hours west of Chicago, 2.5 hours east of Des Moines, 5 hours south of Minneapolis, and 4 hours north of St. Louis, in the  third largest metropolitan area in Illinois and Iowa.  Cost of Living is below the national average.
