We are currently hiring a Municipal Accountant to join our Finance Team. This is a key position that supports the daily financial operations of the Finance Department and provides assistance to the Director and Assistant Director of Finance. If you enjoy public sector accounting, value accuracy, and are looking for a stable, supportive workplace—this could be the right fit.

 

Position Overview

As the Village Accountant, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the fiscal integrity and efficiency of municipal operations. Core duties include:

  • Managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll operations.
  • Assisting with the preparation of bank reconciliations, general ledger entries, financial reports, and budget analysis.
  • Supporting department leadership with special projects and process improvements.
  • Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Using BS&A software and Microsoft Office Suite to maintain accurate financial records.

 

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. Education requirements may be waived for candidates with equivalent professional municipal experience.
  • Prior experience working in a municipal finance department is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with BS&A accounting software a plus.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Able to work independently and collaborate with a small team.

  • Full-time: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Salary Range: $65,000–$75,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
