The Supervisor of Assessments is the County appraiser. The Assessor is responsible for providing statistical assessment performance data on the value of real property within their jurisdiction for the purpose of real estate taxation. Analyzes the data and provides technical advice and provides statistical analysis of assessment data to the Township Assessors and the Wil County Board of Review. Assures that the office maintains records of total exempt properties an administers various special assessment types.
To be eligible for the office of Supervisor of Assessments, a person must possess one of the following:
- Certified Illinois Assessing Official certificate from Illinois Property Assessment Institute
- Certified Assessment Evaluator certificate from International Association of Assessing Officers
- Member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI), Residential Member (RM), Senior Real Estate Analyst (SREA), Senior Real Property Analyst (SRPA) or Senior Residential Analyst (SRA) certificate from Appraisal Institute or its predecessor organizations
The potential Assessor must have two (2) years’ experience in the field of property sales, assessments, finance, or appraisals. Must pass the Department of Revenue examination and be elected or appointed by the County Board and serve a four-year term.
