Call for 2025-26 IGFOA “Letters of Interest” to Serve on the Executive Board
The election of the 2025-26 Executive Board Officers and Members-at-Large will take place at the Annual Business Meeting of the Illinois Government Finance Officers Association (IGFOA).
The open position on the Executive Board is one Member-at-Large.
Accordingly, the IGFOA Nominating Committee is seeking “LettersofInterest” directly from public sector active members ingood standing wishing to be considered for the Member-at-Large position. The deadline for submitting “Letters of Interest” is July 1, 2025.
Below are the primary responsibilities for each Executive Board Member:
- Promote the Association and the profession.
- Determine, monitor and strengthen the Association's programs and services.
- Attend all Executive Board meetings and participate in the discussion and decision-making process at the meetings.
- Support, respect and uphold the decisions of the Executive Board.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all matters pertaining to the IGFOA
- Participate in programs to learn about the proper duties and functions of a Board member and stay current on trends and issues affecting the profession.
- Attend the IGFOA Annual Conference and Annual Business Meeting
- Represent IGFOA at other organizations’ meetings as requested by the President.
The Member-at-Large Position
The term of office for the elected Member-at-Large position is one year, with the expectation that a second year will be served as Member-at-Large/Assistant Treasurer prior to moving on to other successor Officer positions.The Member-at-Large position is a voting member of the IGFOA Executive Board. The Member-at-Large serves as Board Liaison to Committees or Task Forces as assigned and performs other duties as assigned by the President.

Factors Considered by Nominating Committee
The Nominating Committee will consider factors such as diversity of work experience and education, public and professional contributions, demonstrated leadership, participation in the activities of the IGFOA, and the candidate’s personal statement of interest in the position and commitment to attending all Board meetings and extended service to the IGFOA Executive Board (i.e., ascending through the officer positions, if applicable).
Information to be Submitted to the Nominating Committee Through Online Portal
To be considered for a position, a candidate must submit the following:
- A letter to the Nominating Committee describing how the candidate demonstrates the factors noted above and a personal statement of interest explaining why the candidate desires to serve on the Executive Board;
- A statement of commitment to attend all IGFOA Executive Board meetings, the annual conference, and Annual Business Meeting; and
- A non-binding statement indicating the acceptance of the multi-year commitment to serve on the Executive Board.
The Nominating Committee may request other relevant information from a candidate or interview candidates to assist with making a decision. Interested individuals may also submit letters of recommendation from third parties. However, recommendation letters are not required, and a lack of those letters will not be considered against a candidate.

Review Timeline
The Nominating Committee will review all “Letters of Interest” and anticipate making a recommendation approximately in the middle of July.The Nominating Committee will present to the membership a slate of candidates to consider at the 2025 Annual Business Meeting in September 2025. However, any active member may make additional nominations from the floor at the Annual Business Meeting.
