Event Description
If you are the IGFOA Public Sector Member and would like to register staff that are not IGFOA members, please use the individual's username and password, access the event form, and select the registrant type "Government Staff Member". If this is the first time that individual is registering for an IGFOA event, he/she will not have a username and password, therefore access the on-line form at the IGFOA Website without logging in.
Description: Spend the day going over the basics of Governmental Accounting. You will learn the theory behind accounting principles and the fundamentals of fund accounting. Check-in and Continental Breakfast is from 8:00 - 8:30 AM. Breaks and Lunch are included in the registration fee.
Intended Audience: Accountants, Assistant Managers, Assistant Finance Directors, and individuals new to Local Government Accounting.
Learning Objectives: Participants completing this session will be able to:
- Understand the theories which establish accounting principles
- Be able to recognize and manipulate key accounting tools such as the Chart of Accounts
- Comprehend governmental accounting terminology
- Identify the links between budgeting and accounting

Registration & Cancellation Policy
Registrations are accepted on a first-in, first registered basis. Payments by check should be mailed in advance or made at time of registration by credit card.
IGFOA Members are those individuals from the Public Sector, Partner, and Individual Firm specifically listed in the IGFOA Membership Directory. IGFOA Government staff member rate applies to staff, appointed officials, and elected officials of a government with a current IGFOA membership. If you have questions about your membership, contact IGFOA at 630-942-6587. The IGFOA reserves the right to apply the non-member fee to any individual or government that has not paid dues for the current year. If you are unable to attend, please contact IGFOA at 630-942-6587 or info@igfoa.org as soon as possible. A $20 cancellation fee will be charged for cancellations up to February 4, 2016. Cancellations after February 4, 2016 and no-shows are responsible for the full tuition.
IGFOA reserves the right to modify the agenda, cancel the event due to low enrollment, or to close registration if full. Should IGFOA cancel an event, cancellation notice will be sent to the email address provided by each registrant and prominently posted at the IGFOA website page announcing the event.
